Unmerited Favor

This meditation is based on Mark 2. A story on forgiveness of sin, removal of guilt.

How many times have you read all the things you are supposed to do to be a good housewife, spouse, mother. The list can go on and on. Not only do you hear it at church but when you go back home you read it on the Internet. What if there was a way for you to have a healthy body, healthy mind, united family, and successful marriage without doing anything?

I have good news for you. There is a way! It is called God's grace. Christ did all the work at the cross for us to reap the benefits. See the picture above? The plant is an orchid. I bought it to forget about depression 3 years ago. I put it on my kitchen window but I forgot about it. Yes, I was supposed to put ice cubes once a week, I was supposed to re-pot it after she stopped blooming, I was supposed to spray some water on her leaves once in a while and let her receive some fan ventilation. To be honest, I forgot about the plant. I was just waiting for her to die because I never ever put a single drop of water.

One day, his friends told him they heard of a man who can forgive and wash sins away .

Unashamed, he asked: "I urge you. Take me to the man who can wash my guilt away. Let him make me in right standing before God."

His friends were certain Jesus Christ, the Messiah, would give them the gift of no condemnation. They set out and pushed through the dense crowds opposing them. They climbed up a roof and lowered their friend down. Nothing stopped them from believing they could be forgiven by the son of God.

Jesus saw their faith. Their faith proclaimed: "The son of God is the Lamb who takes my sin away. His blood is better than the blood of bulls and goats because His blood will make me clean once and for all." Jesus was pleased to see such faith. So He pronounced: "Son, your sins are forgiven and put away. The penalty is remitted, the sense of guilt removed, and you are made upright and in right standing with God."

Tears began to flow. He felt like a new man. No more clouds of darkness hovered over his head. He was pure, cleansed and his guilt was removed.

Jesus, knowing what the pharisees evil hearts were thinking decided to make evident the removal of guilt by removing it's consequences so He told this man. "Pick up your mat and walk."

AMP Mark 2:4 And when they could not get him to a place in front of Jesus because of the throng, they dug through the roof above Him; and when they had scooped out an opening, they let down the [thickly padded] quilt or mat upon which the paralyzed man lay. 5 And when Jesus saw their faith [their confidence in God through Him], He said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven [you] and put away [that is, the penalty is remitted, the sense of guilt removed, and you are made upright and in right standing with God].

Dear reader. Do not let anyone rob you of the freedom of knowing your sins and guilt has been completely removed. Push through the crowds telling you: " You must do right to be right." Instead, believe in the Son of God, His precious blood. Then, the external conditions of guilt, such as diseases, pain, misfortunes, will disappear because the son of God will tell you: "Your sins have been put away. Walk and keep walking in that faith."
